Alto Castillo is a boutique lodge set in the heart of Chilean Patagonia. In 2021/2022, I travelled there with my partner to work on bringing two new deluxe rooms to life, a hands-on design and building experience rooted in family and adventure.

This project is part of my partner’s family business, and together we spent the summer season on site, from breaking ground through to completion. After a year working in Johannesburg at Luxury Frontiers, a firm specialising in luxury lodges in remote locations, I was excited to apply that experience to a more personal and immersive project.

My role focused on the architectural design of the new rooms and overseeing key elements during the build. While I wasn’t involved in the interior décor, I contributed to the spatial design and interior architecture, as well as the making of select furniture pieces.
