This is a Vintage Handira textile from the Beni Ouarain tribes that was carefully sourced in Morocco.

Each piece is handwoven, using natural wool and traditional techniques that cannot be replicated by machines. Because of this, no two rugs are ever the same. The irregularities, the softness of the wool, and the subtle variations in colour are part of what make these pieces so valuable and sought after. These textiles are not represent century-old traditions passed down through generations of Berber artisans.

Handira's were traditionally woven by Berber women for their wedding ceremonies. They were worn as capes by the bride and later used in the home as blankets, wall hangings, decorative textiles or rugs. Many vintage Handira's include embroidery and layered weaving, symbolising protection, fertility, and prosperity. Today, original vintage Handira's are increasingly rare, which makes authentic pieces highly collectible.

Because these textiles are vintage and handmade, they carry the marks of time,  small imperfections that tell the story of their life before reaching your home. To me, this is what makes them so special. They bring depth, warmth, and a sense of soul that new pieces simply cannot replicate.

Each rug is one-of-a-kind and once sold, cannot be replaced.
